|Security Council to Hold MINURSO Meeting Next Week

The UN Security Council will devote a meeting to Minurso, Thursday, April 9, 2020, according to the Security Council Informal Plan published Wednesday.

This comes within the Security Council’s videoconference program, due to Covid-19 crisis, for April.


According to information published by the press, and in common agreement with the UN Secretary General, the Dominican Republic which assumes the rotating presidency during this month registered the examination of MINURSO on the agenda, during only one closed meeting.




In addition, the UN press service had disseminated on March 25, information on the recent report of the UN General Secretariat, which deals with Minurso future budget from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.


This budget is estimated at $ 57,593,300, excluding voluntary in-kind contributions valued at $ 519,000.


It will  cover the deployment of 218 military observers, 27 contingent members, 12 members of the United Nations police, 82 officials recruited internationally, 163 officials recruited national wise, 18 United Nations volunteers and 10 staff members, provided by governments.
