The four people tested positive for the new coronavirus (Covid-19), originally from the city of Boujdour and hospitalized at the Moulay Hassan Ben Mehdi hospital in Laayoune, have so far been in "stable condition", said Saturday the regional direction of Health of Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra.

"The four patients who are at the Covid-19 treatment unit at Moulay Hassan Ben Mehdi hospital, are currently under surveillance and followed by medical staff. Their condition is stable, ”said a press release from the management.

In a statement to the MAP, the regional director of Health, Ali El Haouari noted that the unit dedicated to the care of Covid-19 patients has 60 beds, including 16 for intensive care, well equipped to receive and treat possible cases of infection by this pandemic.

New equipment to be supplied by the Ministry of Health and other partners could soon increase this capacity, he said, recalling that a regional plan has been put in place for the implementation, follow-up, care and support mechanisms, in particular relating to the training of specialized teams, development of medical isolation rooms, and provision of medical and necessary means for the intervention and treatment of possible cases.

The regional director of health also urged citizens to fully adhere to preventive and restrictive measures and containment rules, in accordance with the requirements of the state of health emergency decreed throughout the national territory, while warning against the dissemination of false information on this subject.

A military staff also comes to lend a hand to the medical human resources of the Moulay Hassan Ben Mehdi hospital in Laâyoune, in accordance with the High instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, Supreme Chief and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) so that  various services and departments, including military medicine, take part in the mission to fight this pandemic.
