|Morocco Celebrates 45th Anniversary of the Recovery of Dakhla Oued Eddahab

On Wednesday August 14, 2024, the Moroccan people will commemorate the 45th anniversary of the recovery of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region, a milestone in the process of achieving the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.

August 14, 1979, delegations of scholars, dignitaries, notables and sheikhs from all the tribes of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region gathered in Rabat to renew and confirm the oath of allegiance to His Late Majesty King Hassan II - may his soul rest in peace -.
After decades of Spanish colonial presence in the southern provinces, the march to liberate the remaining occupied parts continued, starting with the Tarfaya region in 1958 and then Sidi Ifni in 1969. The southern provinces were liberated thanks to the Green March on November 6, 1975, but also to the genius and wisdom of His Majesty King Hassan II.

It was also the result of heroic acts by the fighting population in these regions, and finally the recovery of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab region on August 14, 1979.

The successes of the diplomatic process for the final settlement of the dispute fuelled by the adversaries of our territorial integrity are part of this historic event

This is also the background to the ongoing process of victorious construction and continuous development during the reign of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory and support.
