The map, created by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and presented to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, highlights the member countries of G20, an economic forum comprising 19 countries, as well as the African Union and the European Union, of which Brazil holds the rotating presidency.
The map also highlights countries where Brazil has diplomatic representations, reflecting Brazil's extensive presence around the world, especially in Africa.
According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), “the release of this world map is an opportunity for Brazil to position itself in a unique way on the international scene, in line with its presidency of G20.”
Last June, during the official visit of the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Morocco, the Federative Republic of Brazil praised the serious and credible efforts made by the Kingdom to advance the settlement of the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, within the framework of the autonomy initiative put forward by the Kingdom in 2007.
In a joint statement, Brazil reiterated its support for UN efforts to reach a political and mutually acceptable solution, in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
