|Consultative Meeting in Dakhla in Preparation for the Second Edition of the National Debate on Advanced Regionalization

A consultative meeting was held in Dakhla on Monday in preparation for the second edition of the National Debate on Advanced Regionalization, scheduled to be held in Tangier on December 20 and 21 under the slogan: "Advanced regionalization between the challenges of today and tomorrow."

This consultative meeting aims to share the general framework of the second edition of the National Debate on Advanced Regionalization with territorial actors, to establish a participatory approach in all stages of preparation for the debate, to deepen the problems of its axes by linking them to the accumulations of experience and field practice, and to propose realistic and achievable recommendations with the aim of including them in the general recommendations of the debate.

In this context, Khattat Yanja, President of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Council, told MAP that the meeting opened a discussion on what has been achieved since the launch of the advanced regionalization workshop by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in 2015, noting that the meeting also aims to present proposals that will strengthen and activate advanced regionalization with all its objectives.

He added that this preparatory meeting was an opportunity to discuss the various axes that will be studied during the work of the second edition of the National Conference on Advanced Regionalization, which concern the challenges of promoting territorial attractiveness, productive investment as a key lever for strengthening the economic competitiveness of the regions, financing territorial development programs, water governance in its regional dimension, transportation and mobility, and the development and generalization of infrastructure to overcome the challenge of digital disparity between the regions.

For his part, the President of the Regional Council, Mohamed Salem Hamia, stated in a similar statement that during this consultative meeting, all the axes that will be the subject of discussions during the second national debate on advanced regionalization were reviewed, noting that in this regard, a number of recommendations will be raised in order to be taken into consideration, with a view to consolidating and implementing the major royal workshop related to advanced regionalization.

For his part, the Director General of Services at the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Administration, Mohamed Ahl Abou Bakr, stressed that the convening of the consultative meeting comes in order to deepen the discussion and exchange experiences and best practices in this framework, and to anticipate the future of advanced regionalization in our country, stressing that this major royal workshop aims in particular to carry out a deep structural reform of state institutions.

The second edition of the national debate on advanced regionalization, organized in the city of Tangier on December 20 and 21, by the Ministry of the Interior in partnership with the Association of Moroccan Regions, aims to evaluate the achievements made and exchange best practices.

The event will be attended by government officials, regional presidents, elected members of local councils, experts, as well as Moroccan and international political and economic actors.
