|Niger expresses Deep Satisfaction with Adoption by UNSC of Historic Resolution 2797 Endorsing Moroccan Autonomy Plan

Niger has expressed its deep satisfaction with the adoption, on October 31, of the historic Resolution 2797 by the United Nations Security Council. This resolution endorses—within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty—the autonomy plan presented by Morocco as a serious, credible, viable, and lasting basis for achieving a political solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara.

This position was conveyed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaw Sangaré, during his talks on Thursday in Rabat with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

In this regard, Sangaré affirmed that Niger fully supports the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to facilitate and lead the upcoming negotiations, based on Morocco’s autonomy plan, with the objective of reaching a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution.
