|European Parliament Rejects Attempts to Obstruct Implementation of Agricultural Agreement with Morocco

The European Parliament on Wednesday rejected a motion of objection submitted by certain right-wing and far-right political groups against the draft delegated act presented by the European Commission. This act forms part of the Commission’s implementation of the commitments arising from the exchange of letters signed between Morocco and the European Union on October 3 concerning the export of Moroccan agricultural products to the European market.

This vote effectively means that the European Parliament has endorsed the delegated act submitted by the Commission. It allows for the activation of the provisions of the agricultural agreement, including the explicit inclusion of the Moroccan Sahara within the scope of its implementation, as stipulated in the agreement between the two parties.

This decision represents an additional institutional step confirming the European Union’s commitment to its contractual partnership with Morocco, and it foils attempts by some parties to obstruct the entry of Moroccan agricultural products into the European market or to cast doubt on the legal framework governing this cooperation.
