The visit was part of a program of meetings and field visits aimed at enabling delegation members to observe the major infrastructure projects completed or currently underway in the region, as well as the economic and investment opportunities it offers.

On this occasion, the delegation — which included diplomatic representatives from Belgium, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Japan, and the United Kingdom — held a meeting with the Wali (Governor) of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and Governor of Oued Eddahab Province, Ali Khalil. Discussions focused on the region’s development momentum and the progress achieved across various sectors.

The diplomats also met with the President of the Regional Council, Khatat Yanja, and the Regional President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Amira Hormatallah. Discussions highlighted investment opportunities in the region, the role of the private sector in supporting development, and prospects for economic cooperation and partnerships with international stakeholders.

In a press statement, Faisal Sahmani, Acting Director General of the Regional Investment Center, stated that the visit formed part of the region’s ongoing outreach efforts. He explained that it provided an opportunity to present the delegation with an overview of the region’s economic dynamism at multiple levels.

Sahmani added that the visit also showcased key infrastructure projects currently underway, which are expected to strengthen the region’s position as a promising economic and investment hub.

He further noted that such diplomatic visits help strengthen communication and openness with international partners, allowing representatives of European countries to gain firsthand insight into the comprehensive development taking place in the region.

During the visit, the delegation also toured the construction site of the Dakhla Atlantic Port, where they received presentations on the progress of this major strategic project and its role in enhancing the region’s logistical and economic connectivity.
