|Tindouf camps: the US NGO is glad the EU has « finally recognized » the diversions of humanitarian aid

Kathryn Porter Cameroun the chairwoman of the US NGO “leadership council for Human Rights” is glad that “finally” the European Union  “has recognized a larger scale diversions  of aid destined to sequestered in Tindouf” and has stigmatized the “ overestimation” of populations in the camps by Algeria and the Polisario.

“finally the EU has recognized that the humanitarian aid for refugees in Tindouf camps in Algeria has been  diverted for years”  wrote Mrs Porter Cameron in a statement  disclosed in  Washington , where she has referred to the  2007 report of the European anti- fraud  office  ( OLAF).

This report where the content was recently disclosed, following an intervention of the European mediator , clearly blames these diversions “to an overestimation by Algeria and the Polisario of the camps populations” insisted the US NGO.

“One of the reasons which make these diversions happened is the overestimation of the number of refugees , and consequently the planned  aid “  she has deplored , stressing the utmost necessity to “ organize a census” in the camps.

The “OLAF” report, an organism belonging to the European commission has revealed a number of fraudulent practices and irregularities in the process of distribution of humanitarian aid through several years. It is only the part that allows the populations of Tindouf camps to survive is distributed, deplores the OLAF.

The names of suspected persons involved in the diversion of humanitarian aid   were cited.

The humanitarian aid diversion starts of the ground from the Algerian port of Oran.
