|CORCAS Participates Within Moroccan Delegation in C24 Seminar in Venezuela
The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, represented by Council member Moulay Ahmed Mghizlat, is part of an important Moroccan delegation, headed by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations, Omar Hilale, in the Regional seminar of the 24th Committee for the Caribbean Region, which is being held in Caracas, Venezuela, from May 14 to 16.
The Moroccan delegation also includes Redouane Houssaini, director of the United Nations and international organizations, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African cooperation and Moroccans living abroad
This seminar will be an opportunity for the Moroccan delegation to inform members of the committee and the rest of the participants of the developments in the Moroccan Sahara issue, especially the strong support that the Moroccan autonomy initiative has from international community, which was embodied in the support of more than 107 member states and the opening of about 30 consulates. In general, in the cities of Laayoune and Dakhla, which confirms the Moroccan nature of the Sahara, as well as the unprecedented development dynamism witnessed by the two regions of the Moroccan Sahara in the socio-economic and infrastructure fields.
During this meeting, Algeria’s role in creating and prolonging the regional conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, and its historical, political and moral responsibility as a major party in this conflict, will also be revealed, as confirmed by Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2703, which was adopted on October 30, 2023.
These same decisions established the seriousness and credibility of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the one and only solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, and reiterated that the round table meetings, with the same four participants and in the same format, remain the only framework for the political process under the exclusive supervision of the United Nations, with the aim of reaching a political solution. It is realistic, practical, permanent, and consensus-based for this conflict.
Two representatives from the Moroccan Sahara, Ms. Ghala Bahia from the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, and Mr. Mohamed Abba from Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra region, are also participating in this seminar at the invitation of the head of the committee.
