The Moroccan autonomy initiative is a "very serious proposal that must be taken into consideration" to reach a realistic and durable solution to the regional conflict in the Sahara, Serbian Foreign Minister Nicola Selakovic said on Wednesday.

In deciding to host the so-called Brahim Ghali, leader of the polisario separatist militia, the Spanish government does not seem to have measured the consequences of its decision towards Morocco, a friendly state and ally, says Jean-Yves de Cara, chairman of the Scientific Council of the Observatory of Geopolitical Studies, a research center in geopolitics and international relations, based in Paris.

Several victims of the atrocities perpetrated by the leader of the polisario separatists, the so-called Brahim Ghali expressed on Saturday their anger at the Spanish government's position to allow access to its territory of a man wanted by justice for crimes of genocide and terrorism.

 On the Sahara issue, France and Spain should be loyal partners of Morocco whose role is essential for the stabilization of the Mediterranean area and sub-Saharan Africa, said former French Prime minister Manuel Valls.

Morocco is still waiting for "a satisfactory and convincing answer" from the Spanish government regarding its decision to allow the so-called Brahim Ghali, prosecuted by the Spanish justice for crimes of genocide and terrorism, to enter its territory, stressed Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans abroad, Nasser Bourita.
