|African Press Highlights Accession of 3 New Countries to the Call for RASD Expulsion Initiating Exclusion Process from the AU

Several African media have highlighted the recent accession of three new countries of the Continent to the "Solemn Call for the expulsion of the So called RASD from the African Union" known as "Tangier Call", stressing that the process of the exclusion of this puppet entity from the AU bodies is launched.

The African media reports on the recent signing in Marrakesh during this first meeting of the follow-up of the "Tangier Call", by three former Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Lesotho, Madagascar and Gambia of this Call, launched on November 04, 2022 in Tangier.
Mr. Lesego Makgothi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Mr. Patrick Rajoelina, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Madagascar and Mr. Lamine Kaba Badjo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Gambia. With these new countries, the number of signatories now stands at 19.

As part of the follow-up to the "Solemn Call for the expulsion of the pseudo-ArSd from the African Union", known as the "Tangier Call", the signatories of the Call held their first follow-up meeting on January 28 in Marrakesh, Morocco, wrote the Ivorian newspaper ''Fraternité Matin'', noting that during this meeting, "the signatories have reiterated their commitment to work together and in coordination for the exclusion of this non-state entity pseudo rasd of the African Union.

While pointing out that campaigns of reflection have led to the development of a "White Paper", the Ivorian publication stresses that this document "develops a factual and historical argument

It is, writes the media, a legal and political reference document, "which materializes a vision of a united Africa and a renewed Pan-Africanism, far from the ideologies of another time.

"The signatories of the Appeal believe that this exclusion is legitimate from a legal point of view. It should not, in any case, be considered as an unattainable objective. Moreover, it is part of a favorable continental and international dynamic. Here the signatories are formal, realism and pragmatism must prevail. Anything that is a prerequisite for the return of impartiality and credibility of the Pan-African Organization on the Sahara issue, "notes the newspaper.

The exclusion process of the pseudo "rasd" of the African Union "is initiated", wrote, for its part, the portal "Africa24", noting that the "White Paper" prepared by the signatories of the "Tangier Call" is the roadmap of the process of exclusion of this chimerical republic of the AU.

The media recalls that the former prime ministers and foreign ministers of Africa, signatories of the "Tangier Appeal" were received on January 30 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, to whom they handed the "White Paper" "which initiates the process of exclusion" of this puppet entity, supported by more than 30 African states.

"We are faced with a very serious problem with regard to the issue of the pseudo rasd. It is not based on law, because as far as other liberation movements in Africa are concerned, whether it is South Sudan or South Africa, Zimbabwe or Mozambique, these countries were never recognized as members of the African state before they became independent. So there must be a legal way to ensure that a state becomes a member of the African Union," the portal wrote, relaying the words of Raphael Tuju, former foreign minister of Kenya.

"The development of the White Paper of the Tangier Appeal according to the signatories aims to strengthen cohesion and equity within the African Union by allowing through the act of expulsion of the pseudo rasd to resolve on a diplomatic and pragmatic level the situation in the Sahara region," noted the same source.

"We are all aware of the dynamism of Moroccan diplomacy, this White Paper will be forwarded primarily to heads of state and decision-makers for their consideration so that this process that has been initiated can be explained to all those who had to be, "says the media, citing Jean Marie Ehouzou, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Benin.

The "White Paper" adopted unanimously by former prime ministers and former African ministers, during the first follow-up meeting of the "Tangier Call" in Marrakech on Saturday, January 28, recognizes that the presence of the "rasd" in the AU is an obstacle to African integration, the African media said.

Nearly three months after the initialling on November 4, 2022 in Tangier of the "Solemn Call for the expulsion of the pseudo Rasd from the African Union", known as "Tangier Call", the signatories of the document met on Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Marrakech for their first evaluation meeting, wrote the African Agency "APAnews" in an article under the headline: "Tangier Call" insists on the expulsion of the "rasd" of the African Union.

Strengthened by the various recommendations of the Pan-African Reflection Campaign on the stakes of the African Union in the light of the Sahara issue, debated during five sub-regional seminars organized between May and October 2021, in Nouakchott, Dakar, Accra, Dar Es-Salaam and Kinshasa, the signatories of the "Solemn Call for the expulsion of the pseudo "Rasd" of the African Union", have discussed a draft "White Paper" and adopted unanimously, after having "made their valuable contributions", notes the Agency.

For their part, the newspapers "Lesotho Times", "Allafrica", and "GhanaWeb" report that two countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Lesotho and Madagascar, have just signed with the Gambia the Solemn Appeal for the expulsion of the pseudo "rasd" from the African Union (AU), known as the "Tangier Appeal".

"The three new African countries put pen to paper in late January in Marrakesh at the first meeting of follow-up to The Tangier Call, which had been signed for the first time on 04 November 2022 in Tangier," say the publications. They say in this regard, that the "Tangier Call" was initially signed by former prime ministers and former African ministers of Guinea-Bissau, Djibouti, Central African Republic, Somalia, Burkina Faso, Eswatini, Benin, Comoros, Liberia, Gabon, Malawi, Cape Verde, Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea and Kenya.

"Allafrica" wrote that the high African dignitaries of the "Tangier Appeal", including three new signatories, from Gambia, Lesotho, and Madagascar, renew their call to exclude the separatist entity from the authorities of the African organization, whose presence represents "a brake on regional and continental economic integration.

Other media on the continent have also echoed the accession of these three new countries to the Tangier Appeal. During the meeting in Marrakesh, the 19 signatories reiterated their commitment to work together and to exclude this non-state entity from the African Union, the same sources said.

"Strengthened by the various recommendations of the Pan-African Reflection Campaign on the challenges of the AU in the light of the Moroccan Sahara issue, discussed at five sub-regional seminars, held between May and October 2021 in Nouakchott, Dakar, Accra, Dar Es-Salaam and Kinshasa, the signatories of the "Solemn Appeal for the expulsion of the pseudo-ArSd from the African Union", discussed the draft "White Paper" that they adopted unanimously, after having made their valuable contributions".

The "White Paper" admits that the presence within the AU of the pseudo "rasd", a non-state emanation of an armed separatist group, illustrates the institutional vulnerability of the organization and represents an undeniable brake on regional and continental economic integration.

It should be noted that former prime ministers and former African ministers have called to consider the presence of the pseudo "rasd" in the African Union (AU) as "a legal aberration" and "a political nonsense", during their meeting held in Rabat with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, Nasser Bourita, to give him the "White Paper". These former African officials denounced the presence of this puppet entity within the AU.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Bourita stressed that the presence of the pseudo "rasd" is "an institutional obstacle" and "an anomaly" within the African Union. "The existence of the pseudo rasd is a legal aberration because it does not correspond to the constituent elements of a state at the international level," insisted the Moroccan minister, adding: "Its presence is an institutional obstacle and an anomaly within the pan-African organization" and the existence of the "rasd" is a problem for Africa.
