|Portuguese Expert Highlights Growing Support for Moroccan Sahara Autonomy Plan

The autonomy plan presented by Morocco in 2007 to settle the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara enjoys growing support at European and international levels, Portuguese expert and political scientist Raul Braga Pires said on Tuesday.

"The sustained diplomatic action carried out by Morocco in recent years has generated a series of international positions in favor of the Moroccan autonomy plan for the final settlement of this issue", underlined the political analyst in an article published by the Portuguese radio portal TSF.
Thanks to its tireless efforts, the credibility of its action and the correctness of its cause, Morocco was able to unite broad European support around the autonomy plan as a political solution to the Moroccan Sahara within the framework of its sovereignt, national and territorial integrity, he continued, indicating that the Kingdom has also asserted itself with the great powers as a reliable partner.

In this regard, Mr. Braga Pires referred to the recent visit made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, to Italy and Germany, which enabled Morocco to strengthen its relations with its partners and to deepen its bilateral cooperation, recalling that Rome and Berlin have welcomed "the serious and credible efforts" made by Morocco to settle this artificial regional dispute.

"The Moroccan strategy is bearing fruit", said the expert, noting that the achievements of the Kingdom, a neighbor and a strategic ally of Spain and Portugal, will encourage other European countries to support the Moroccan autonomy plan. as the only serious and credible political solution.
