The historic return of this part of Moroccan territory to the homeland, recorded on August 14, 1979, was the result of a long-term struggle undertaken over several decades by Morocco to complete its independence and territorial integrity, writes the Agency Jordanian Press (Petra).
And to recall that on August 14, 1979, the ulemas, notables and tribal leaders of the province of Oued Eddahab had gone to the Royal Palace of Rabat to present to the late HM Hassan II their oath of allegiance and to reaffirm their ties of unwavering attachment to the Glorious Alaouite Throne.
Since then, the agency points out, the Kingdom has worked for the economic and social promotion of all its southern provinces by integrating them into the process of global and sustainable development.
For its part, the online media "Ammonnews" indicated that the celebration of this anniversary is an opportunity to remember the high significance of this event which embodies the unwavering attachment of the population of the province to the Sovereign and to the Alaouite Throne and their constant mobilization for the defense of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
The author of the article emphasizes that His Majesty King Mohammed VI pays particular attention to the southern provinces by ensuring economic growth there and by consolidating national mobilization to thwart all the conspiracies of enemies of the territorial integrity of Morocco.
Since the recovery of the provinces of southern Morocco, he continued, major projects have been launched in order to implement investment and development projects and programs at the economic, social, urban, cultural and human levels, in view to establish a resilient regional economy, provider of wealth and jobs.
Today, four decades after their liberation, the provinces and regions of southern Morocco live to the rhythm of a sustained dynamic in various fields, he noted.
