In an intervention before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, the representative of Jordan, Ahmed Samir Habashneh, praised the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco with the aim of reaching a political and consensual solution on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, in line with the relevant Security Council resolutions.
He also highlighted efforts made by the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura, including his recent visits, aimed at relaunching the political process in an effort to reach a realistic and lasting solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue, based on international law and Security Council resolutions.
On the other hand, the Jordanian diplomat stressed the centrality of the established relations linking the two kingdoms, as well as the keenness to develop them in various fields.
