The participants, who hail from the countries of Rwanda, Ghana, Madagascar, Madagascar and Cape Verde, rode a mountain bike race along a 14-kilometer circuit through the sand dunes of Dakhla.

The four pairs went through a two-kilometer training camp, followed by a 10-kilometer guided run through uphill and downhill trails back to the starting point, thus completing a unique adventure through the undulating sand dunes and overcoming all difficult conditions in a spirit of teamwork and solidarity.

Over the course of four days, these students, aged between 20 and 23, will continue to compete in other phases of the athletic tests, including night trails, mountain biking, boot camp, and rappelling. It will be followed by canoeing and kayaking.

The African students, who are divided into four groups, will take part in the various tests of this sporting and exploratory challenge, after a series of physical preparation classes and several sports tests to enhance their physical endurance.

In a statement to MAP, Gilles Coubert, technical director of the "Saharawi" race, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and running until February 10, said that at this stage of the competition, the participants, equipped with a map and compass, set off in search of 12 predefined numbers as reference points distributed along a distance of 14 kilometers.

"For this year, the route is not marked, and participants must explore and find their way on their own using their maps and compasses, and then return to participate in the training camp or the run," said the technical officer, who oversaw the design of the course.

Gilles Coubert also pointed out that during all phases of the event, a medical team ensures that the participants' health is monitored by a medical team.

In ten years, the event has been able to support more than 90 organizations thanks to the generosity of participants and supporting partners, with donations totaling over 1,186,032 MAD. Participants have numbered more than 1,000 from all over the world.

Every year, thanks to the commitment of the participating teams, many national and international organizations have been supported since the first edition, such as SOS Children's Villages, UNICEF, Feminist Solidarity Association, Aman Association for Women's Development, Friends of the Pink Ribbon, Joud Association for Citizenship and Development, Milk Drops Association, and the Robert Debre Association.
