|Samara: National Initiative for Human Development Plays Major Role in Women Empowerment

The National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) in the Samara region has contributed in various phases, especially the third phase, to support a number of programs aimed at improving the situation of women, improving their living conditions, and making them an active element in the management of a number of development projects in the region.

International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8, is one of the important milestones to recognize the great and distinguished role played by the National Initiative for Human Development to advance the status of women and improve their social, economic, cultural and health conditions.
According to data from the social work department of the Samara Regional Municipality, the National Initiative for Human Development, which is the main supporter of the health sector, has devoted a special focus to the health and nutrition of mothers and children under the program to boost the human capital of future generations.

During the third phase of the NHDI in this region (2019-2023), this sector received special support to provide better access to treatment for mothers and children and to sensitize them to the role of healthy and balanced nutrition in the proper development of children.

In this context, a financial allocation of about 4 million dirhams has been allocated to finance a number of projects aimed at correcting the shortage of some health departments, especially at the level of the mother and child department at the regional hospital, by providing this department with various mechanisms, technical equipment and surgical tools according to the needs expressed by the Regional Health and Social Protection Delegation.

The operation also includes the supply of medical equipment for the mother and child department, biochemical analyzers and diabetes tank measurement, 21 medical cots, beds for newborn babies, and surgical tools for obstructed deliveries, in addition to equipping a room for breastfeeding and sensitization activities for women of childbearing age, pregnant women and nursing mothers, both at the Rabib and El Koueiz clinics.

As for the kidney filtering center attached to the regional hospital, the equipment shortage was remedied by allocating 900,000 dirhams for the purchase of four additional kidney filter generators, as well as the purchase of two ambulances for the communities of Amkala and Tifariti, and another for the Regional Delegation for Health and Social Protection in Smara, in addition to equipping a health center in the community of Jadiriyeh, as part of the commemoration of the day.

As part of the commemoration of International Women's Day, a number of cultural and social activities were supported and accompanied by the organization of exhibitions for the women of Smara region to highlight the contributions of women in this region in various cultural, economic and social fields, as well as honoring a number of female figures at the national, regional and local levels, and distributing financial and in-kind assistance to some women in difficult situations.

These activities also included a training workshop organized by the National Agency for the Promotion and Employment of Skills (ANRES) in Smara for women entrepreneurs and project idea holders from families with special needs.

The workshop, organized by the Moroccan Association for Persons with Special Needs in Smara, with the support of the National Initiative for Human Development, focused on the incentive measures for entrepreneurship through the "I am an Entrepreneur" program, which seeks to simplify and facilitate entrepreneurship and support entrepreneurship, in addition to accompanying beneficiaries in accessing financing under the "Tamweelcom" program, and the free service for project holders with more than 10 banks.
