The meeting was punctuated by a tribute to former resistance fighters and members of the Liberation Army, in recognition of the sacrifices made for the Kingdom's independence.
On this occasion, Mustapha El Ktiri, High Commissioner for former resistance fighters and former members of the Liberation Army, recalled the memorable positions of these men who did not hesitate to answer the call of the Nation, demonstrating militancy, courage, determination and magnanimity, to bequeath to the rising generations the most beautiful pages of glory.
Mr. El Ktiri also stressed that this commemoration is an opportunity to teach younger generations values and lessons of this grandiose event and to reinforce their sense of national belonging and love of the homeland. He also pointed out that it is an opportunity to consolidate the true values of patriotism and citizenship in young people, while preparing them to face current and future challenges and issues.
On the sidelines of this commemoration, a scientific conference was organized under the theme “The revolution of the King and the people: reflections on the event and its symbolism”, during which Abdellah Louiz, professor at Ibn Tofail University, reviewed the heroic victories won by the liberation army in the north of the Kingdom.
Nabil Essafi, President of the National Council for Culture, recalled the principles that marked this national epic, including cohesion, cooperation, initiative and responsibility.
The commemorative gathering closed with a tribute to former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army, who were presented with honorary shields in recognition of their laudable contribution to the national struggle for independence.
Financial and social assistance was also awarded to the families, widows and beneficiaries of former resistance fighters and former members of the liberation army.
