|Census 2024: Mobilization and Commitment Watchwords for Census Teams in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab

Mobilization and commitment are the watchwords of the teams in charge of the General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH) operation in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, which kicked off on Sunday, following the example of the Kingdom's other regions.

Nearly 400 people, including surveyors, controllers and supervisors, are mobilized to contribute to the success of the RGPH-2024 in the region, under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of the Haut-Commissariat au Plan (HCP).

On August 30 and 31, these teams toured the survey zones entrusted to them, an initiative which enabled the surveyors to identify the delimitation of their census zones and its conformity with the cartographic work carried out.

The census teams, under the supervision of the HCP Regional Directorate, began surveying the different districts of the city of Dakhla in the morning, collecting data of crucial importance for the country's development and for strengthening the effectiveness of public policies over the coming years.

In a statement to MAP, the regional director of the Haut-Commissariat au Plan, Cheikh Mohamed Maoulainine, said that the operation was progressing well thanks to the resources mobilized to achieve the objectives set, noting that the launch of the operation had taken place under “good conditions”.

The citizens interviewed by the HCP teams in Dakhla reacted positively to the investigators' questions, he noted, adding that some of them were aware of the importance of this national deadline.b

Mr. Maoulainine also praised the spirit of responsibility and seriousness shown by the RGPH staff throughout the training and fieldwork phase of the RGPH, which is likely to lay a good foundation for the development of future public policies and sectoral and socio-economic strategies.

Hakima Toumya, Communal Supervisor for the province of Oued Eddahab, emphasized that this year's census operation was marked by the introduction of new technologies, explaining that the data listed in the electronic tablets were sent directly to the HCP's central servers, without any traceability on the electronic gadgets.

Nearly 400 men and women are taking part in this census operation in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, including 258 interviewers, 89 observers and 9 supervisors.

In terms of logistics, 43 vehicles have been mobilized to ensure that the surveyors can travel in good conditions.

Carried out in application of the High Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI and in compliance with the recommendations of the United Nations Statistical Commission, the RGPH 2024 will provide a true picture of the population and housing. It is of vital importance for public policy planning and the country's socio-economic development, providing a detailed snapshot of Moroccan society and its evolution.
