“Significant human and logistical resources have been mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the census in the province,” assured in a statement to the press, the provincial supervisor of the RGPH operation, El Garhi Sidati, specifying that some 83 investigators, 25 controllers and 3 supervisors are engaged in this major operation.
Mr. Sidati also said that the census operation, which will continue until September 30 in the province of Smara, includes 21 control zones and 68 census zones, in addition to the participation of 111 controllers and investigators.
Similarly, he said that the distance or face-to-face training sessions that benefited census participants, helped ensure a good start to this national deadline, noting that the transition to data collection from households was preceded by a field reconnaissance operation, during which controllers and investigators learned the boundaries of their census zones.
The maps carefully developed by the High Commission for Planning allowed researchers to identify the action zones, he continued, adding that the data collection operation, which was favorably received by households, started in good conditions.
An operation with strategic scope, this census, carried out in application of the High Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI and in accordance with the recommendations of the United Nations Statistical Commission, will provide a real picture of the population and housing.
The 2024 RGPH is marked by diversity in the categories of participants, since 60% are graduates and students and 32% are women and men in the education sector, while other civil servants in public administrations and institutions, private sector employees and civil service retirees represent 8%.
It makes it possible to know the demographic, social and economic characteristics of the entire population, including specific population groups such as nomads and homeless people.
It also involves determining the volume and characteristics of the housing stock as well as the housing conditions of households.
