|THE UN have provided assurances concerning the handling of the Sahara issue (Mezouar)

Morocco obtained guaranties about the handling of the Sahara affair following the telephone conversation of his Majesty King Mohammed VI with the UN secretary- General BanKi-Moon during last month of January, indicated in Rabat Minister of Foreign affairs and cooperation Mr Salaheddine Mezouar .

MINURSO will carry on its missions within the framework of its present mandate ,without mentioning any other mechanism of monitoring Human Rights In the Sahara , said Mr Mezouar during this meeting  which took place with the presence of the president of the house of representatives , Rachid Talbi Alami and the president of the house of counselors, Mohammed  Cheikh Biadillah .

He added   that the personal envoy of the UN secretary –General for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, who will visit Morocco during the coming weeks, will be in charge of elaborating the annual report which will be made public by the UNSC next April .

Mr Mezouar has recalled that the Security Council’s report published last April, has contained false information which could have led to abuses. Such as the modification of the negotiation parameters, the exemption of Algeria’s liability in this issue, putting on the same footing of equality a separatist movement and a sovereign state, in addition to the evocation for the first time of the question of natural resources and the instauration of a mechanism of monitoring Human Rights .

Mr Mezouar has asserted that the initiations and speeches of His Majesty King Mohammed VI , particularly the one delivered on the occasion of the Green March’s anniversary , have brought a clear answer , strong and firm to  false information in the  report in question
