Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi, said that thanks to the political genius and vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has made several achievements in the Sahara issue, which have strengthened its position on the international level.

State and Government heads of member countries of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa meeting on June 23-25 in the Cameroonian capital, "welcomed" the initiative of Morocco seeking to grant a statute of wide autonomy in the Sahara, describing it an option that "could maintain the momentum in the negotiating process towards a mutually acceptable political solution."

A delegation of the emissaries of king Mohammed VI , composed of Foreign minister, Taïb Fassi Fihri, and head of the Moroccan intelligence (DGED), Mohamed Yassine Mansouri, paid visit to Yaounde on the fringes of the summit of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), held on June 23-25.

The Moroccan initiative autonomy for the Sahara is a democratic option for progress towards a final  settlement of the artificial conflict created around the territorial integrity of Morocco, said Tuesday Pr Abdelhamid El Ouali.

The ambassador of the United States in Algiers, Robert S. Ford, reiterated, Monday, his country's position in favour of Morocco's autonomy proposal for the Sahara, stressing that "self-determination does not necessarily mean independence."
