Since 1975, the Kingdom has been carrying out development, economic and social projects in the Sahara region.

 

In 1976, the state created the first vocational training institution in Laayoune. Previously, the region had no structure dedicated to the qualification of human resources.



A network of institutions in ongoing development 

Determined to actively participate in the region’s integrated development, the State has adopted an ambitious policy to extend training passing from one Vocational Qualification Center (CQP) in 1976 to 14 institutions including 4 Specialized Institutes in Applied Technology (ISTA), 4 Institutes in Applied Technologies (ITA) and 6 Vocational Qualification Centers (CQP).

To strengthen its presence in the region and ensure a neighborhood service, the State has created, in 2002, a regional management in charge of vocational training headquartered in Laayoune. The setting up of this management has helped introduce the action of the State in the field of vocational training in the region. 


An expanding training offer

Thanks to training expansion, the number of beneficiaries has increased from less than 100 in 1976 to more than 4000 students in 2006/2007, i.e. an evolution of +3900%.  

Between 2007/2008, there are more than 5000 students, registering an increase of +25% compared to the current year.

These training opportunities are open on 4 levels: Specialized technician, technician, Qualification and Specialization and cover the various economic sectors including industry, construction, IT and Tourism.


A financial effort amounting to more than 450 million MAD

The development of training has increased by a great effort in terms of investment, accumulated to nearly 120 MDH for the construction and equipping of schools. For 2007, more than MMAD 24 are expected especially for the setting up of ITA Boujdour and ITA Al Wahda devoted to training for the Disabled.

A special effort to be carried out in human resources mobilized by the state. 194 employees including 115 trainers are currently serving young people in training and business in the region.


Accumulation costs relating to human resources (Millions MAD)

 

Therefore, funds mobilized by the state since 1976 in terms of investment, operating and payroll, are expected to exceed MAD 450 million.
