Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch affirmed Tuesday in New York that the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty is the only realistic and lasting solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Panama’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Martínez-Acha Vasquez, reaffirmed, on Tuesday in New York, his country’s support for the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco for the definitive resolution of the regional dispute on the Moroccan Sahara.

The Republic of Suriname reiterated on Monday in New York its support for the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over all its territory, including the Moroccan Sahara, as well as for the Autonomy Plan as "the sole basis for a political solution to the regional dispute concerning Morocco's territorial integrity and national sovereignty."

Armed groups' growing misuse of human rights discourse to justify serious abuses, particularly the recruitment of children, came under sharp criticism Friday during a side event in Geneva, held on the sidelines of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC).
