Colombia commended Morocco's political will to find a compromise solution to the Sahara issue based on realism, a Moroccan-Colombian joint statement said on Monday.

Maldives' President Mohamed Nasheed expressed, on Sunday in Male, his country's support to Morocco's initiative to grant autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara.

Members of the UN Security Council (SC) have unanimously reiterated their support for the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Sahara, Christopher Ross, the president of the council for this month told the press on Thursday in New York.

UN Security General Ban Ki-Moon recommended to the Security Council the extension of the mandate of the UN mission in the Sahara (MINURSO) for a further period of one year until April 30, 2011.
