Austria considers the autonomy plan, presented by Morocco in 2007, as a basis for a solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, agreed upon by all the parties, according to the joint declaration adopted at the end of the meeting, Tuesday in Rabat, between the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and the Federal Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer.

Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi, who chairs the Moroccan delegation to the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council (HRC), stressed, Monday in Geneva, the overall development of the Kingdom's southern provinces, in contrast with the suffering of the population held against its will in the Tindouf camps in Algeria.

The Moroccan people celebrated, Saturday, the 65th anniversary of the visit of the late HM Mohammed V to M'Hamid El Ghizlane, carried out on February 25, 1958, during which the late Sovereign had received the Shioukhs and representatives of Sahrawi tribes who came to renew their allegiance.

Several royal archives attest, with incontrovertible evidence to support, that the history of Morocco has its roots in the depths of its southern provinces, said Tuesday in Rabat, the Director of the Royal Archives, Bahija Simou.

The African Union Assembly, the supreme organ of the pan-African institution, has reaffirmed the United Nations' exclusivity on the Moroccan Sahara issue, avoiding any reference, quotation or debate on this issue.
